Jeff Mach’s Wicked Faire 2008

February 10th, 2008 by anthonyz

Jeff Mach’s Wicked Faire is a unique gathering of young adults, an average of 18 to 30 year olds attending; this is the third annually faire that started in 2006.. Although it is a faire, we also consider it calling the event a convention because it has the same uniqueness as a regular convention we go to from time to time.

First note, this is a age 16 and older gathering because of the sexuality, graphical, and language used at the event. According to an interview with Jeff Mach, he said that he didn’t want young people walking around because he doesn’t want to receive complaints from their parents. People over 18 do receive an age verification badge, so they will be able to access areas of the convention that has adult content.

The Wicked Faire took place on the weekend of February 8 and 9 at the Holiday Inn in Edison, New Jersey. Since most of the attendees are older than the other trips we’ve been on, most of the faire ends around 2 in the morning on both days and the faire starts later, such as 5pm on Friday and noon on Saturday. We felt like this was great cause most of us are late-night people than early morning people.

One of the events at the faire was a Jedi Wedding,  and yes, it was REAL! It took place on Friday night at the faire which closed the first night. The entire wedding can be seen on Vidgle in the upcoming edition of “The Con-Goer.”

Other events going on around the faire included a performance by Voltaire. We at Vidgle are huge fans of Voltaire, and so was the rest of the attendees. Most attendees interviewed said that the best part of the faire was Voltaire.

Other appearances includes Daniel Greenwolf, a magician which he performed an amazing magic card trick on the Vidgle camera, Aaron Glotfether, an exotic hypnotist, and the PA Jedi.

The dealers room though was the place to purchase necessary goods. There were three dealers room, which two have the matured products, such as kilts, armory, clothing, jewelry, and others. There was another room which only people over 18 are allowed, which had dealers selling sexual items, such henti, and sex toys.

There was also an artist alley at the faire, which most of the artists were web-comics and printed comics. One web-comic we’ve ran into was In His Likeness.com, published by James Hatton at InHisLikeness.com. The characters of the web-comic consists of dots, with one being god, the devil, and the internet. Hatton has appeared at other conventions, such as Otakon and Katsucon. You can watch Hatton’s interview on Vidgle in the upcoming “Con-Goer.” Another included SuperFrat, a web-comic that takes place in upstate New York by Tony DiGerolamo. The comic is available at SuperFrat.com, and the story is about of college students in their twenties.

Overall, this faire was amazing and we will definitely come to the faire again next year. It was a simply a faire to go to if you want to find a way to relax or to meet new people. You will be able to watch complete coverage of the Wicked Faire in the upcoming  edition of the “Con-Goer.” You can see photos of the faire on our sister site, WRAJ Internet Radio, by clicking here.
